Amandine Fouquenet: "I am proud of what I have achieved"
Amandine Fouquenet is back in the running for the French Elite and Espoirs cyclo-cross titles this Sunday in Liévin. Interview.
“It was magical to live this cyclo-cross season with the jersey of French Champion. I was proud to wear it and I was able to show it by winning four times at national level. I also won the general classification of the French Women’s Cup. I scored a top 10 in a World Cup race. I see that I continue to progress year after year, that’s the most important thing for me.
The first time I wore the jersey
“This jersey is a symbol, it represents a lot of things, so the very first time I put it on, I was mostly afraid I wouldn’t be up to it. But I think I honoured it well, I am happy and proud of what I did with it”.
“I went to the French Championship this year, but the course was not yet marked out. I know that the Val Souchez circuit can suit me, because many people tell me that its layout corresponds to my qualities, but afterwards all the stars have to be aligned on the “D” day. The competition is strong this year, but I will fight to try to keep the French Champion jersey. I will give it my all, and we will see on the field on the “D” day”.
