Tour de la Semois (stage 1): Megan Armitage 4th
Megan Armitage finished 4th in the 1st stage of the Tour de la Semois in Belgium. She is 4th overall ahead of the second and final stage.
“It was one of the first UCI races I took part in when I started cycling, so I’m delighted to be racing it again. It was a race of wear and tear and I didn’t know how my legs would respond. I tried to be well positioned at the start of the climb on the final circuit where I knew it was going to break. I finished 4th. Tomorrow, it’s more difficult than today so I hope to move up in the overall classification and get on the podium.”

“The race was based on elimination on this first stage of the Tour de la Semois, the best climbers got away, then in the final six girls got to the front, then five including two Jumbo-Visma, two Cofidis and Megan Armitage. One of the Jumbo girls escaped and the other four contenders came in for second place. Megan came 4th, but she could have done better. We’re going to keep up the momentum tomorrow and try to do well on both counts: stage and general classification.”
