Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Megan Armitage: "learning by competing with the best riders"

The Arkéa Pro Cycling Team will tackle its second UCI World Tour classic of the season this Sunday: Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Megan Armitage

“Liège-Bastogne-Liège is a big race. In a race like this, saving energy will be the key if you want to do well. Clara and I like these types of races. We will have to take advantage of our “underdog” status to seize the opportunities to anticipate if they arise. It’s particularly by confronting the best that we learn. You gain experience with every event. We are also lucky to be able to count on our team-mates, Amandine, Anaïs and Marie-Morgane, who know this event well and who will be able to guide us and protect us during the race.”

Mélanie Briot, sports director

“It’s a great race on Sunday! In our ranks, we have girls who are comfortable on this type of profile. We are approaching this competition with desire and a lot of humility. Many teams like us will want to be ahead of the game. To be at the front of the pack in these big races would be a great way to showcase ourselves: a large number of our riders are in the middle of the learning phase at the top level. And the best way to learn is to be offensive, to go forward.”
