On the line

It’s incredible to finish 1, 2, 3 today both in the final stage and in the overall classification of the Vuelta Extramadura Feminas. I am very proud of the Arkéa Pro Cycling team and what we achieved during these three days. We had a really strong team. We tried to save ourselves, to follow the moves in the first part of the race so that we could control the last climb. Maaike did a great job to put us in the best position with Clara. This final with two team-mates was special. We wanted to share. We had decided to play the winner on the pedal. This race showed that we were strong collectively. I am proud to be part of this team.

The debrief

“We did a great job today on this queen stage of the Vuleta Extramadura Feminas, which ended with a summit finish. On the first part, I told the girls to be vigilant, to try to go to the front to force other teams to work. At the foot of the last climb, the skimming was already done and we were outnumbered in the lead group with Maaike, Clara and Megan. Maaike set a strong pace until 5 kilometres from the finish, but then she dropped back and Clara and Megan attacked together, which no other rider could answer. Clara and Megan had been instructed to fight it out for the win if this scenario occurred. And it was Megan who won in the last few metres in a sprint. Maaike was rewarded for her work with a 3rd place. I am proud of the behaviour of the Arkéa Pro Cycling Team riders and their commitment to the team over these three days. This triple win on the stage and in the general classification rewards them all.
